This is the next entry in our mini-series about the new compositing features in Maverick.
This time, we will introduce you to Object Region Render, or ORR for short. With this feature, you can designate which objects (or groups) will be rendered, excluding everything else. The Alpha AOV adapts correspondingly, producing as a result a masked layer that only carries whichever objects or groups you selected.
This allows you to assemble those layers back together in photo-editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop. This comes handy to, for example, create variations of the same object without re-rendering multiple times. This is a typical situation when one needs to create a website with a catalog of configurable products (e.g., appliances, jewelry, …).
This video goes through the UI and explains how to selectively enable ORR in a sample scene:
We wish you all the best. Stay safe. And thanks for watching!
