Merry Christmas 2025
Merry Christmas, dear Maverick users!
To celebrate the Christmas Season we just released Maverick (Studio and Indie) 2024.4, and started a 15% OFF promo that will last until Jan the 10th.
2024.4 is a continuation of our most recent releases, where we continue to polish and extend animation support in our products. In this build we have added:
- Full support for deformation animation. Including: import of deformation-based animation, motion-blurred deformation, ...
- General support for animation in our file importers.
- We have recorded new video-tutorials (see below!).
USD support: .usd/.usda/.usdc/.usdz
We have added a .usd, .usda, .usdc, .usdz file importer based on the official OpenUSD C++ API. This will allow to stay up to date with this new standard, and provide USD support as tight as possible.
We feel that USD support in this build is already fairly complete. But being a first version of our USD importer, please feel free to let us know (or provide the offender file) if any model of yours fails to import satisfactorily.

Animation!
We have evolved our existing file importers so they support different forms of animation.
Camera animation
Now you can import cameras animated in external software.
Xform-based animation
Xform-based animation (more pedantically called rigid solid animation) is already supported. This type of animation is what you normally find in physics simulations of rigid objects. Other types of hand-crafted animations (e.g., non-skeletal animations) often fall in this category of xform-based as well.
Skeletal animation
Animations based on bone rigs (skinning, skeleton, armature, ... being related terms) are now supported. This type of animation is in fact deformation-based.
Deformation animation (constant topology)
General deformation animation is also supported as long as the object's topology is constant. This means, imported animation of cloth and deformable bodies is supported. Other types of non-constant topology animations (such as fluids) are not supported yet.
Embedded textures
We have added support for embedded textures to those file formats that allow it, namely: GLB and USDZ. Those file formats were importing without texture maps in Maverick until now.
Example of imported deformation animation
First and foremost, here goes an acknowledgement to the author of this fantastic animation loop. This is a link to the model in Sketchfab.
Aside from the obvious (it's working!) notice the subtle yet delicious deformation motion blur. :-P
New video tutorials
Our team keeps crunching more tutorials covering animation in Maverick.
These first two videos talk about keyframe creation and editing. The third one more broadly covers the creation of one of the scenes we used to introduce the first animation release. In that one, different materials are cycled-through while the objects rotate.

Christmas Promotion
We have created a 15% OFF coupon in our shop you can benefit from until Jan the 10th. The coupon is: MERRYMAVERICK.
Now, remember that we have decided to increase the price of perpetual licenses and 1-year renewals on Jan 1st. So this may be a good time to jump in (or renew) at the current price (+ discount).
Important: The price of monthly/yearly subscriptions will not be affected. The price change will only affect perpetual/renewal purchases starting next year.
What a year 2024 has been!
We hope that the next one will be even better and will bring peace and love to you and your loved ones.
